Underdog Fantasy NBA Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – April 17

Joel Embiid – Higher than 30.5 Points

It’s time for the stars to shine, and when he’s been on the court this season none have shined brighter than Joel Embiid. While he’s questionable for tomorrow’s game, he’s always listed as questionable – I don’t see him missing a game this important.

The big man hasn’t missed a beat since returning from what was feared to be a season-ending knee injury. He scored over 30 points in the last three games of the regular season, with a 37-point and 32-point game to wrap up the schedule. I think he lights up Miami tomorrow night at home.

Jimmy Butler – Higher than 23.5 Points

It doesn’t matter that Jimmy Butler scored 12, 14, and 15 points to finish off the regular season, or that he only averaged 20.8 ppg for the season. This is playoff time (technically play-in time), where Butler shines brightest.

In his past two postseasons with Miami, he’s scored right around 27 points per game over a large sample size (39 games). With Miami needing a win tomorrow in Philadelphia, he’s sure to show up.

DeMar DeRozan – Higher than 29.5 Points

‘Mr. Clutch’ DeMar DeRozan is another guy I’m expecting to show out tomorrow night. DD has been lights out for the Chicago Bulls down the stretch.

Despite being 34 years old, DeRozan was his old reliable self this season, averaging 24.0 ppg. But over the few weeks, he’s been on fire. DeRozan has scored 30 or more in four straight games, five of his last six, and six of his last eight. And tomorrow’s opponent, Atlanta, doesn’t play defense.
