If you read my column on Sunday, then you recall me mentioning the NHL would be where we make our cheddar. After our Underdog entries went two for three, it raised our overall hit rate to 65% in the 2023 season. Monday night’s NHL slate now presents nine new opportunities for us to print another pile of cash. And since Taylor Swift has found a way to insert herself into the sporting world, it’s only appropriate to quote her here; “don’t say I didn’t warn ya.” So here are my four best NHL Underdog Fantasy Picks for October 30!
The Quick Pick: Daily NHL Underdog Fantasy Pick ’em Picks for October 30
Frank Vatrano Higher Than 0.5 Points
You’re probably wondering how it’s possible that we would ever like any Anaheim Ducks player to do anything at all. Not so fast, my friends. The Ducks are riding a three-game road-winning streak into Pittsburgh tonight. On the road trip, Vatrano has registered four points with a healthy diet of time on ice. The eye test also indicates that the Penguins have been struggling here in the early going. Let’s get Monday night started with a quack and take Frank Vatrano Higher Than 0.5 Points.
Steven Stamkos Higher Than 0.5 Assists
Death. Taxes. And Steven Stamkos registering an assist at home in 2023. The veteran Lightning center has tallied four of his five total assists on home ice this season. His splits against the Seattle Kraken also confirm he’s tallied four assists across four games over the last two seasons. Tampa is also a perfect four wins and zero losses in their last four meetings with the Kraken. Like an NHL Underdog Morpheus, “I can only show you the door. You’re the one that has to walk through it.” Walk through that door and snag Steven Stamkos Higher Than 0.5 Assists.
Jaden Schwartz Higher Than 0.5 Points
This season, the Kraken are struggling to do anything well, but Jaden Schwartz has tried to carry the load. He has tallied six points across nine contests, including a current three-game point streak. If the Kraken wants to get off the schneid against the Lightning, they’ll need Jaden Schwartz’s help to do so. To quote an 80’s Mel Brooks movie, “I see your Schwartz is as big as mine.” Swipe the Higher Than 0.5 Points on Jaden Schwartz!
Clayton Keller Higher Than 0.5 Assists
I wouldn’t fault anyone for asking why we have a Coyotes player in the same article as a Ducks player. With that being said, there are few others on the Coyotes roster I trust more than the American center. The team’s record might read 3-4-0, but three of those four losses have been one goal games. Keller has registered four assists in 2023 and seven assists against the Blackhawks over the previous two seasons. It might look a little “Coyote Ugly,” but let’s trust Clayton Keller to go Higher Than 0.5 Assists tonight.
