Underdog Fantasy Daily Pick’Em Entry – October 10
Cristian Javier – Higher than 4.5 Strikeouts
I had Houston starter Framber Valdez over 4.5 strikeouts in Game 2, and that hit despite him only pitching 4.1 innings. Now I’m going back to that well and riding Astros’ starter Cristian Javier to hit the same strikeout level in Game 3. He averaged right around a K per inning for the regular season and struck out five or more in five of his last six regular season starts.
Sonny Gray – Higher than 4.0 Strikeouts
Let’s go with Javier’s Minnesota counterpart, Sonny Gray, to mow down at least five batters in Game 3 as well. You have to go back 15 starts – to July 2nd – to find a game where Gray didn’t get at least four punchouts. Like Javier, he also averaged right around a strikeout per inning in the regular season, so he should be good to go higher than four, even if he gets a quickish hook.
Dean Kremer – Higher than 3.5 Strikeouts
Let’s make it three Higher than strikeout props and go with Baltimore’s Dean Kremer to top 3.5 strikeouts as the Orioles fight for their playoff lives tomorrow. Kremer beat this number of K’s in nine of his last 11 starts in the regular season (tomorrow is his first start of this postseason. Based on his regular season average, if he can get at least four innings under his belt, he’ll hit this Higher play for us.
