Daily World Cup Best Bets – June 19th
United States vs. Australia
Kickoff – 3:00 pm EST

I know a lot of people are pointing to the opener and making excuses for why the United States looked good. Paraguay was just bad, the ball bounced the wrong way, they actually outplayed their 1.42 expected goals – we’ve heard it all. However, what I liked about this United States team over past iterations is that they played with aggression. Too often they have sat on leads and instead they had constant despite and, in the case of Folarin Balogun, a real nose for the goal.
Australia walked away with a hot start, but really got even more lucky than the US. They had just 28% of possession against Turkey and fouled them at an insane rate. Look for the United States to take advantage of all the set pieces and extra possession to put up another big spot.
Best Bets for United States/Australia: United States -1.5 (+175) and Over 2.5 Goals (-105)
Scotland vs. Morocco
Kickoff – 6:00 pm EST
Gillette Stadium – Foxborough, Massachusetts
Broadcast – FOX
This is a game that I think we can comfortably expect to have very little action in terms of scoring. Scotland played a safe game against Haiti after finding an early goal for the win. Morocco had the opposite experience, having found an early goal – they struggled to keep Brazil back and wound up drawing. While that’s a great result for the African squad, they showed a lack of gusto up front and that’s why I like the under.
I do think that Morocco is a bit better in nearly every facet of the game, but the low scoring should make a wide spread playable here.
Best Bets for Scotland/Morocco: Scotland +1.5 (-295) and Under 1.5 Goals (+190)
Brazil vs. Haiti
Kickoff – 8:30 pm EST
Lincoln Financial Field – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Brazil came out of the gate lame. They conceded an early goal to Morocco and then had to battle their way back to a draw. While that is an ugly result for a team people expect to make a deep run, I think this is just the game they needed next. Haiti looked like they had little to offer Scotland, who is a sizable step below Brazil. Not only do I expect a Brazilian win here, but look for them to make the statement they missed out on in the first game.
Best Bets for Brazil/Haiti: Brazil -3.5 (+195) and Over 3.5 Goals (-120)
Turkey vs. Paraguay
Kickoff – 11:00 pm EST
Levi’s Stadium – Santa Clara, California
Broadcast – FS1
If you’re going to lob those insults at Paraguay for the United States game, you better come ready for Turkey to take it to them as well. While they faltered in the first game, you have to like how they looked coming in. Their last four games of qualifying saw them win three shutouts and draw 2-2 with Spain.
The offense was sleepy to start, but the up front play from Galatasaray forward Yunus Akgün lately makes me feel like something has to give. This Paraguay defense is likely that thing that has to give.
