US Open Update and Best Bets

Men’s Singles:

We’re one step closer to having an Alcaraz and Djokovic final. Djokovic advanced to the semi-finals, defeating Taylor Fritz in straight sets. Djokovic does have to face one of the most exciting stories of the US Open in 20-year-old Ben Shelton, who knocked out 10th-ranked Frances Tiafoe in the quarterfinals.

While Djokvic is only one win away from the finals, Alcaraz has what could be two intense matches: a quarterfinal matchup against 12th-ranked Alexander Zverev and now a semi-final matchup against third-ranked Daniil Medvedev. The semi-final matchups should be two exciting matches!

Best Bet: Novak Djokovic to win US Open Mens 2023, -140, DraftKings

Women’s Singles:

There have been several upsets in the Women’s Singles tournament, including top-ranked Iga Swiatek and third-ranked Jessica Pegula getting eliminated in the fourth round. All eyes are on third-ranked Coco Gauff, who has been playing outstanding. More importantly, she has looked and sounded relaxed and has looked to be enjoying herself the entire tournament.

Athletes tend to play their best and be the most dangerous when they can relax during big tournaments/competitions, so Gauff is my best bet to win the Women’s US Open tournament.

Best Bet: Cori “Coco” Gauff to win US Open Womens 2023, +175, DraftKings

Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles:

The Men’s Doubles tournament is still wide open, with three of the four remaining teams being ranked in the top six. Even though there are three ranked teams, don’t overlook the one unranked team of Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut, who have been playing very well. I’m feeling like riding with the underdogs of Herbert and Mahut to win the tournament. Everyone loves a good underdog story.

Best Bet: Herbert/Mahut to win vs. Bopanna/Ebden, +110, DraftKings

Much like the Women’s Singles tournament, the Women’s Doubles tournament has seen a lot of upsets. One of the most surprising upsets was third-ranked Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff getting eliminated in the quarterfinals.

Gauff and Pegula were my pick to win the tournament because they had been playing so well across the different tournaments they entered. Looking ahead, I like the eight-ranked team of Su-Wei Hsieh and Xinyu Wang, who played well against Gauff and Pegula. If they can keep up that level of play, they should be able to bring it home in the semi-finals and finals.

Best Bet: S-W. Hsieh/Xin. Wang to win vs. Dabrowski/Routliffe, -205, DraftKings

With Mixed Doubles, we’re down to the finals. Number one-ranked Jessica Pegula and Austin Krajicek are set to face off against unranked Anna Danilina and Harri Heliovaara. I’m expecting Pegula and Krajicek to be able to win. Look for Pegula to play exceptionally well as a sort of revenge play for getting knocked out early in the Women’s Singles and Women’s Doubles tournaments.
