College Basketball had some juicy story lines come in over night with more details releasing about the gun issue and murder charges surrounding the Alabama basketball team. Will this have March Madness implications? It will certainly affect the program for many years.
Providence is on the road as 7.5 under dogs against UConn. In the Big East you are supposed to take the home team but this many points for a sound Ed Cooley squad are a lot to look past. In addition, the best days of UConn seem to be back in the earlier portions of the season.
JMU battles Marshall in a battle of the Sun Belt. JMU is 8-2 against the spread at home and should hold strong in this one due to their ability to defend the three-point line, something Marshall relies on as they average 25 attempts per game.
Kentucky heads to Florida as 3.5-point favorites. Kentucky is coming off a big win but Florida is missing one of their best scorers, one who had 25 points in the loss to Kentucky earlier in the season.
Southern Miss heads to Old Dominion where ODU is -1.5 at home in front of a most likely very lit crowd. Southern Miss has gone 9-1 in their last 10 but also lost by 10 when they played ODU last. Offensively ODU struggles and Southern Miss could definitely capitalize.
Clemson hosts Syracuse as a -2.5 favorite. The line is interesting in this battle of the orange schools and could certainly move before tip-off. Clemson is 13-1 at home though and should defend it well.
Temple battles Cincinnati where the Bearcats are -8.5. Despite this line, Temple won the first matchup at home by 9. Cincy can get rocking and should be roaring as the winner of this game takes the edge in the conference battle. Temple has its sour reputation, but they play solid ball.
Belmont is -1.5 at home versus Indiana State. These two teams are battling for first and should be at each other’s necks all game. Belmont has been great at home and are 6th in the nation at 3-point shooting.
North Carolina visits Notre Dame where the Fighting Irish are +6.5. UNC has been terrible on the road this year and just bad in general. They have a chance at being the first preseason number 1 to not make the tournament, an embarrassing feat. Notre Dame has played some solid ball though and is very attractive at plus money.
NC State hosts Wake Forest as -5.5 favorites. NC State is coming off a morally big win against UNC and could be hungover. Wake Forest is 7-1 when they have the rest advantage, which they have in this matchup.
Iowa is at Wisconsin and is a -1.5 point favorite. Wisconsin is full of white guys, but they don’t shoot well. They are good at slowing the game down, but Iowa has a strong offense. Whoever can control the tempo the best will probably win this one.
Tulane visits Houston as a +15.5-road dog. Tulane plays well in conference and is catching a lot of points here and could catch Houston here, but probably not win outright.
New Mexico State visits Boise State where is Boise is -5.5. Boise is projected to be in the tournament right now while New Mexico State is on the outside looking in, but it is realistic. Boise has played great ball all year, but this could be too many points.
