Daily Fantasy MMA Picks: DraftKings Plays for UFC Fight Night: Woodley vs Burns

Live sports finally returns to Las Vegas tomorrow night, minus a live audience, unfortunately. The UFC will be running UFC Fight Night: Woodley vs Burns from their headquarters – the UFC Apex – tomorrow night, headlined by top welterweights Tyron Woodley and Gilbert Burns. You can read my full betting preview and picks for the card right here.

Now, let’s draft a UFC team on DraftKings that will ensure you a big win tomorrow night.

Billy Quarantillo – $8,600

Quarantillo had a very successful UFC debut late last year, beating Jacob Kilburn via submission after pummeling him 74 strikes to 3. That earned him a hefty 139 DraftKings points. I’m looking at him having a high point total again tomorrow night against Spike Carlyle. The ‘Alpha Ginger’ also scored big points in his UFC debut and is an active striker, so this should be a high-scoring affair.

Daniel Rodriguez – $7,300

I’m really liking Daniel Rodriguez at this bargain price. He’ll be facing a UFC newcomer, Gabriel Green, who was just slotted into this fight a few days ago, so Green will have not much of chance to train for his debut. Rodriguez also scored 104.5 DK points in his initial UFC foray, tapping out tough veteran Tim Means in the second round. The potential he showed in that fight, added with the fact his opponent is being thrown into the fire last minute (in the middle of a quarantine), should add up to a nice showing Saturday night.

Augusto Sakai – $8,200

Beefy heavyweight action will be the co-main event on Saturday night, and I’m riding with Augusto Sakai to come out on top. And for only $8,200, I think he’s a worthy addition to your roster. He averages a decent 89 DK points every time he steps into the octagon, and is always a threat to turn his opponent’s lights out – he’s won 11 of his 14 fights via (T)KO, and four of his last five fights (all wins) have come via stoppage due to strikes.

Jamahal Hill – $8,400

Apparently I have a thing for fighters making their sophomore treks into the octagon, because Jamahal Hill is yet another one. He made a successful debut in January, beating Darko Stosic via decision, earning himself 80.5 DK points. He’s the owner of an unblemished 7-0 pro MMA record and throws a lot of strikes, while his opponent on Saturday, Klidson Abreu, is only 1-2 in the UFC and gets hit more than he dishes out so far in his career. Could add up to a nice showing for ‘Sweet Dreams’ Hill, and a nightmare night for Abreu.

Mackenzie Dern – $9,300

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace Mackenzie Dern is 0-1 as a mother. However, she was 7-0 before that time, and I expect her to get her first win since being referred to as “mommy” tomorrow night. She’ll be too big and strong for her opponent Hannah Cifers and should be able to grapple her to death (not literally, hopefully). A nice submission win could score you some nice points.

Katlyn Chookagian – $7,700

‘Blonde Fighter’ just unsuccessfully challenged for Valentina Shevchenko’s UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship, so she figured she’d try her luck with the other Shevchenko, Valentina’s older sister Antonina. Chookagian doesn’t finish many opponents, but she’s a busy striker and I think she’ll do enough (or appear to do enough) to win a decision here.
