The segment opened on the Alabama side. The guys pointed out that Alabama is a top-five team getting more than a field goal, and that this is a day game, which they felt takes some of the home edge away from LSU. One of the guys admitted he was clueless on this one, though he was sure Alabama is not in that top tier.
Then came the case against LSU. The guys said LSU has beaten nobody, with Clemson as its best win. They called the Auburn and Kentucky games survival wins against teams that are not very good, and said LSU has to prove it here, noting both teams had two weeks to prep. Colby thought Alabama was live to win outright and took the Tide with the points.
Ryan went the other way. He had looked at the advanced numbers before the show and said LSU is in the top 12 for both offense and defense by EPA. Asked for the bet splits, Ryan said he would lay it with his fellow sharps and let the others take the heat. When he was asked whether LSU’s coach going one and nine against top 10 teams bothered him, he said no. He does not think Alabama is good either, so he trusted his instincts and laid the points with LSU.
