The 49ers are 4-0 and Brock Purdy hasn’t been sacked, which Sean called kind of wild. They head to Seattle, WA for a Sunday, October 11 at 4:25 PM ET kickoff as 3-point underdogs, with the Seahawks favored by 3 and a total of 46.5 when the guys taped on October 7. Both hosts took Seattle on the NFL Picks Week 5 episode.
49ers vs Seahawks Odds

Our Picks
- Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Seahawks -3
- Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Seahawks -3
Sean read the clean sack column two ways: either the 49ers line is playing at an elite level, or it hasn’t seen a pass rush like this one in a building like Seattle’s. He leaned toward the second, and the injuries pushed him further. San Francisco is without a cornerback who, by Sean’s count, rushes the passer 11th most among corners in the league, and without Kyle Juszczyk, who he called the straw that stirs the drink. Shanahan can patch over missing skill players, Sean said, but there’s no backup fullback who runs the same stuff, and Juszczyk is a big piece of the pass protection.
Ryan wasn’t sold at first. He pushed back on the idea that this number is a big adjustment from last season, saying this Seattle team isn’t that one, and he thinks the game may hinge on Leonard Williams, who he called possibly as important to the Seattle defense as the safeties. Sean added that Purdy has three touchdowns and five interceptions in his last four games against Seattle’s defensive coach.
What flipped Ryan was the run game. Sean noted the 49ers haven’t been able to pound the rock, and Ryan wondered what this offense looks like if Seattle slows the run down, with or without Williams, while getting pressure on Purdy. Sean briefly worried the market knows something about a 4-0 team catching points in week five. Ryan figured fading an undefeated divisional dog is its own strong angle, said a defense built to confuse Purdy and Shanahan was the thing he liked most, and joined Sean on Seattle laying the 3 at home.
