The Giants case runs through Jayden Daniels and his arm. The guys talked about the brace he is expected to wear to protect against another dislocation, one that keeps the arm bent so he can’t straighten it. It is on his non-throwing arm, but Daniels is at his best when he is moving and scrambling for yards, and the argument on the show was simple enough: a quarterback who doesn’t want to get hit is a quarterback who stops running. Put the Giants pass rush in his face and it gets worse.
On the other side of the ball, the plan from the show is the one that worked the week before: hold up on the offensive line, let the quarterback throw it down the field and trust the Giants receivers in one-on-one coverage. The guys also gave the Giants a clear edge on special teams, and spent a happy minute on the news that the Giants long snapper leads the league in perfect spirals.
Not everything pointed one way. Washington has won seven of the last 10 in the series, the guys noted, and the Giants are a public dog drawing a lot of money, which always makes a side feel a little crowded. The swing came from the Commanders injury report, which the guys called one of the longest they had ever seen. You need receivers to throw on this Giants secondary, and it was not clear Washington would have enough of them.
The projection is an ugly one: a game that might not see a touchdown, settled by field goals, something like 15-12. In a game like that, the hook on 3.5 is worth a lot, and that’s why both picks landed on the Giants.
