Our Picks
- Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Saints +2
- Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Saints +2
Ryan opened on the Saints’ last outing, a celebration that turned into a beating. Nothing about it was complicated, he said: the opponent just ran the ball down their throat. That is also the heart of his case here, because he doesn’t think the Vikings can do the same thing. He did admit the matchup that scares him most. The Saints quarterback doesn’t always handle the blitz, and Ryan can see the Vikings defense scoring points itself and once again not needing much from their offense.
Sean had no interest in Kyler Murray laying points on the road. He gave the Vikings defense its credit for playing out of its mind, but said at some point the offense has to help, and noted Murray still doesn’t look comfortable in the system. Sean’s word for the 4-0 Vikings was fugazi. Ryan pointed out they have won games without an offensive touchdown, which Sean called unsustainable.
Injuries pushed them further toward New Orleans. Sean said Justin Jefferson may or may not play, and he flagged a possible absence at left tackle in front of Murray. Ryan noted the Vikings have a bye the following week, so he sees no reason for them to rush anyone back and is ready to pencil those guys out. Sean conceded the trench report favors Minnesota and called it a close-your-eyes special, but he expects a hungry Saints team to rebound at home. “Never in doubt,” he said, taking New Orleans plus two.
