Our Picks
- Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Broncos -3.5
- Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Broncos -3.5
The spot isn’t kind to Denver on paper. The guys noted it’s a road back-to-back with a Thursday night game against the Seahawks on deck, and a Chargers team that keeps losing could randomly show up in a divisional game. Ryan even raised the Denver secondary: Pat Surtain hurt his ankle last game and Riley Moss did something to his ribs, and if the Broncos lose their top two corners, the way they play defense has to change.
Sean wasn’t buying a Chargers revival. He took them last week, watched them push after kicking a late field goal down 10, and came away thinking you get no bonus points for being early on this team. The offensive line was bad before the injuries, Ryan said Rashawn Slater is out with a high ankle sprain, and Sean pointed out Justin Herbert ranks second-worst in the league in QBR. His alternate angle is a double result, Chargers in the first half and Denver for the game, because Denver keeps winning games late and the Chargers keep handing them away.
Ryan pointed out that the Chargers’ divisional record against the spread has been very good lately, then tried to argue himself onto their side and stopped. He would rather be wrong laying it, and Sean liked Denver off a loss with its fans taking over SoFi. The guys signed off on the Chargers with the running joke of the segment: Herbert is just tired.
