The guys pictured a Packers vs Patriots game decided by who lands the big play, and they like Green Bay’s defense to win that fight. Kickoff is Sunday, November 8 at 4:25 PM ET in Foxborough, MA, and both hosts took the Packers +3, the number they played when they taped on November 4. The whole segment is on the NFL Picks Week 9 episode.
Packers vs Patriots Odds
As of the November 4 taping, the New England Patriots were 3-point favorites over the Green Bay Packers, with the total set at 47.
Our Picks
- Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Packers +3
- Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Packers +3
Ryan started with the Patriots offense. In his view it is nothing without explosive plays, and the Packers defense has been near the top of the league at stopping them lately. Sean agreed. He said Green Bay’s defense is better than its numbers say, and that New England’s formula of hitting a couple of deep shots may not work against this group. He also called the Patriots very thin at pass catcher.
Sean added that Green Bay ranks fourth in havoc rate. His one worry on the Packers side was the offensive line. He said Green Bay can’t run the ball, but it hasn’t seemed to matter much, because their quarterback keeps taking his shots downfield.
Ryan asked who high winds would hurt more, and Sean figured both teams, since each one leans on the deep ball. Ryan also flagged the spot: the Patriots have a game against the Lions across the Atlantic next, and the Packers come in off a Thursday night game with extra rest. His last word was about the Patriots quarterback. Ryan thinks he gets bored of dinking and dunking, does something reckless, and gives the Packers a turnover or two.
