Sean Green called it one of the toughest spots to cover in the NFL: Detroit laying a touchdown on the road right after an emotional division win. Ryan Kramer took the Lions anyway. They visit the Dolphins on Sunday, November 8 at 1:00 PM ET in Miami Gardens, FL. When the guys taped on November 4, Ryan had Lions -7 and Sean had Dolphins +7. The full argument is on the NFL Picks Week 9 episode.
Lions vs Dolphins Odds
On the show’s November 4 sheet, the Detroit Lions were 7-point road favorites over the Miami Dolphins, and the total sat at 50.5.
Our Picks
- Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Lions -7
- Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Dolphins +7
Ryan opened by saying he understood why the public would be on Detroit and why the sharps were likely on Miami, a team that has been covering without always looking great. He also noted that Detroit’s defense is banged up again. The guys noted Detroit is without Jack Campbell after a scary injury, and they sounded encouraged by the latest update on him.
Sean made the flat-spot case. Detroit is coming off an emotionally draining home division win, goes on the road to face a Dolphins team it could overlook, and has an international game next. He said it was almost the same setup the Cincinnati Bengals had, and a seven-point non-conference road favorite is a hard bet to cash.
Ryan agreed with all of it. He said he was fully prepared to be on Miami until the Campbell injury, and he now expects the Lions to treat this one as a game to win for their teammate. He also thinks Detroit can hit a big play against this Dolphins defense. So he laid the points.
Sean stayed with Miami. Seven-point home dogs, he said, is when the Dolphins thrive, and he thinks losing Campbell hurts Detroit’s run defense in a big way. Ryan granted that Campbell is a big piece of that run defense, but he isn’t worried about the Miami offense.
