I split my first two NBA bets of the season, not ideal, but it would have been worse if the Detroit Pistons hadn’t staged that historic comeback. Here are your NBA predictions and preview for Wednesday, Oct 21st.
NBA Opening Night Predictions & Preview for Wednesday, Oct 21st
Dallas Mavericks vs Houston Rockets
Start Time – 8:30 PM EST
Year 2 of the Cooper Flagg Experience kicks off tomorrow in Houston, as the Rockets host Flagg and his Dallas Mavericks teammates in a Southwest Division matchup.
Other than Flagg’s sophomore season getting started, this game’s other talking point is the returning point guards: Kyrie Irving for the Mavs and Fred VanVleet for the Rockets. Houston clearly missed FVV last season, and I see him helping them big time this year. I like the Rockets to cover at home.
Best Bet: Houston -8.5 (-104)
Sacramento Kings vs Los Angeles Clippers
Start Time – 10:30 PM EST
Now, this game and these teams are no fun at all. The always inept Sacramento Kings visit the scandal-rocked and sanctioned LA Clippers in La La Land.
We don’t have to watch this game to bet on it, remember. And I don’t plan on watching it. But I do like the Clippers to cover this spread in front of their much-suffering fans. Perhaps the only time this season I’ll be in on the Clips?
Best Bet: Los Angeles -4.5 (-114)
2026/7 Overall Record: 1-1 (50%)
Profit (based on $100/bet): -($9.09)
Return on Investment: -5%
