Both hosts are on the Broncos, and Sean Green leaned on a long trend to get there: Denver is 38-19 against the spread as a home underdog since 1991. The Seahawks visit Denver, CO for Thursday Night Football on Thursday, October 15 at 8:15 PM ET, and Seattle was a 2.5-point favorite with a total of 40.5 when the guys taped on October 14. The whole argument is on the NFL Picks Week 6 episode.
Seahawks vs Broncos Odds
The Seahawks were 2.5-point favorites with a total of 40.5 when the guys taped on October 14. On the money line, Seattle was -140 and Denver was +120.
Our Picks
- Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Broncos +2.5
- Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Broncos +2.5
One of the guys called this one of the harder games on the card to figure out, mostly because everything pointed at Denver at once: the spread, the public betting on Seattle, and a matchup that looks built for a Denver dink-and-dunk game plan, with Bo Nix moving the ball through his legs, the running backs and the tight ends. The guys did tip their caps to JSN, noting he already has seven touchdowns.
Sean started with JSN’s health anyway. The receiver is dealing with an ankle issue from the 49ers game, and Sean doesn’t see him at 100% on a short week. He conceded that Seattle has been good against the spread after playing the Niners, but a short week at high elevation is when he thinks the Broncos thrive. He expects the same script as Denver’s games against the Jaguars and the Rams, when the other team ran out of gas after halftime: the Broncos won the second half 17-13 against the Jags and 20-10 against the Rams. Even if Seattle grabs a lead, Sean isn’t sure it holds without a running game. He also said the Darnold turnovers were what cost Seattle at home, and now the Seahawks hit the road. Denver has injuries of its own, which Sean called big, but he still likes how the Broncos match up with the current version of Seattle.
Ryan framed it as a line-of-scrimmage game. He expects Denver to load the box, make Sam Darnold beat them, and eat clock to cut down the possessions for a Seattle offense he called boom or bust. He also pointed out that the public is all over Seattle, which he read as pros versus Joes, and called Denver a great teaser piece for anyone who plays them. Sean’s closing nugget: underdogs have now won seven straight primetime games outright, the longest streak since the merger.
