Colorado State vs Texas State Prediction & Picks: College Football Week 7

A defensive coordinator walking off mid-game is usually a bad sign, but the guys read it as a reset for Colorado State. Colorado State visits Texas State on Thursday, October 15 at 5:00 PM PT / 8:00 PM ET in San Marcos, TX, and Texas State was a 14-point favorite with a total of 69.5 when the guys taped on October 13. All three of them took Colorado State +14 on the College Football Picks Week 7 episode.

Colorado State vs Texas State Odds

Texas State was a 14-point favorite over Colorado State with a total of 69.5 when the guys taped on October 13. Ryan read the money line on air as Texas State -650 and Colorado State +460.

Our Picks

Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Colorado State +14
Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Colorado State +14
Colby Dant (@thecolbyd): Colorado State +14

Sean started it. He thinks Jim Mora is a good head coach, he likes Mora with extra time to prepare, and he called the departed coordinator dead weight that was clearly a problem. The catch is at quarterback: the guys said the Colorado State starter was doubtful at taping, which puts the backup in.

Colby wasn’t worried. That backup played for Mora at his previous school, and according to Colby he threw for 344 yards in his first start against UTSA in the Alamodome. Colby also had Texas State’s defense ranked 127th and its pass defense dead last in the country, noted that UTSA already won in San Marcos this year, and put Colorado State’s pass offense 19th. He gave Texas State and G.J. Kinne their due, an offense he said ranks third nationally in yards, but he couldn’t see why the spread was so big. Colorado State had a bye, so Mora got two weeks to clean things up.

Ryan went along with the points with one reservation. Everything he has heard about the coordinator leaving came from Colorado State and Mora, and maybe there is more to the story. Still, he figures a moment like that can wake a locker room up, and the quarterback situation might be hiding some value in the number.
