Ryan’s read on the backup quarterback wasn’t kind: a couple of decent throws, then Virginia Tech switched to man coverage, blitzed him relentlessly, and he had no answers. Pitt’s path is the run game and a defense Ryan admits played well. North Carolina’s defense has been solid too, and Colby rates the Heels as a decent team this year. They hung with Notre Dame before that game got away, and he thinks they should have beaten Clemson before the lightning delay changed things.
