Nobody walked in loving this one. Backing Florida State right after a big road win at Virginia didn’t appeal, and laying points with Louisville wasn’t much better once the guys pulled up the pass defense: 130th in the country, by the number they read on air. Louisville’s five fumbles against NC State, three of them recovered by the Wolfpack, got filed under random, and the early read was an ugly field goal game.
Colby broke the stalemate. He isn’t buying the Seminoles yet, and he sees Louisville as a team with three losses already and real pressure on it. He also brought a revenge angle: by his account the two programs haven’t met since the ACC championship game in the Louisville coach’s first year, a game Louisville lost.
His best point was about that pass defense. Colby thinks it’s better than the ranking says, because Louisville has already faced a string of very good quarterbacks, and that schedule drags the numbers down. The other two came around and laid it with him.
Florida State, for the record, spent most of the segment being called Saudi Arabia State, and Colby has the golf course stories to prove the T-shirt draws looks.
