Colby put this game on the card, and the trophy came up before any handicapping did. The Battle for the Milk Can, per the show, dates to 2005 and was set up by dairy associations from the Treasure Valley in Idaho and the San Joaquin Valley in California. The series itself goes back to 1977. That history took a detour into why milk would come in a can at all, and then into what else people call cans, and nobody on the show tried very hard to steer it back.

The case for laying the points started at a podium. The guys said Boise State’s head coach looked furious at his press conference about not having the milk can in his possession for years, and that was enough to call it a press conference play. Fresno got real credit too: Fresno’s home crowd was called the best college football environment in California, by far.

Sean’s lean was the interesting one. He said his default handicapping would take the dog in a rivalry game, especially a home dog, and he gets the Fresno case. But he faded Boise State against Western Michigan and watched them destroy that team, and he thinks Boise State is a pretty damn good team. So he laid it.

Ryan didn’t budge. When Sean said he’d take Boise State, Ryan’s answer was “Fresno home dog all day,” with Fresno chasing a fourth straight win in the series.
