Colby went first and didn’t sugarcoat it. He thinks West Virginia has the worst Power Five defense, and he noted that the Mountaineers’ own defensive coordinator called it the worst defense in the nation at his press conference. He also raised the revenge angle: Arizona fired the coach who now runs West Virginia, and Sean said that coach has this game circled.
Sean built the West Virginia case from there. Arizona is missing all three of its starting receivers, and the players around Noah Fifita are banged up. He cited West Virginia going 4-0 ATS in its last four games after allowing more than 40 points, and he thinks the Mountaineers, home dogs here, can force Fifita into a turnover or two and stop the bleeding. Colby admitted he’s terrified of a quarterback that good facing a defense that bad. Then he got to what he called the real handicap: Arizona has never been to Morgantown.
Ryan stuck with the quarterback. “That’s the handicap,” he said, and he reminded everyone that the guys had already talked about how hard bad defenses are to trust. He added Arizona’s 1-5 ATS record as a buy-low reason and took Arizona laying the 3.5. Before any of that, a good chunk of the segment went to roasting the mascot art on Colby’s slide.
