Prelim Pick of the Week: UFC 326
UFC Light Heavyweight Fight: Rafael Tobias vs Diyar Nurgozhay
Start Time: Saturday (3/7) 5:00pm EST (Paramount+)
Buried on the prelims is a fight with some excellent value on the moneyline. We have one fighter with solid ground skills and another who can see to grapple his way out of a paper bag.
Rafael Tobias makes his UFC debut this weekend after winning his contract on the Contender Series. Six of his 14 career wins have come by way of submission – making him a real threat on the mat. However, it’s not just his submission skills. Tobias also has some sharp takedowns, particularly with his inside trips.
His mission to end the fight early will be a bit easier with Diyar Nurgozhay standing across from him. In each of his first two fights, Nurgozhay has been submitted. The first of them came against a striker in Brandon Ribiero, who hit him with a simple jiu jitsu 101 kimura.
If Nurgozhay had trouble with guys like Ribiero on the mat, Tobias is going to be a nightmare for him.
