The Dunk Contest is back for 2025, and while we still don’t have the big names that once entered the event, that doesn’t mean there aren’t storylines to follow. The 2025 NBA Slam Dunk Contest will see someone go for the first ever All-Star weekend three-peat. Joining the reigning champ is a pair of rookies and a second year player. We’ll break down the field and give you our dunk contest pick.

2025 NBA Slam Dunk Contest – Picks and Predictions
Start Time: Saturday (2/15) 8:00am EST (TNT)
Event Odds:
Mac McClung (-225)
Andre Jackson Jr (+550)
Matas Buzelis (+750)
Stephon Castle (+750)
Breakdown
The odds for the dunk contest are pretty staggering and there’s a good reason as to why. Mac McClung has won two straight dunk contests and has a chance to make history by being the first ever to win three straight. The G-Leaguer has been impressive in each contest, but will need to do something special to get the honors again.
Trying to keep him from that historic feat will be a pair of rookies in Stephon Castle and Matas Buzelis, and a second year player in Andre Jackson Jr. The two rookies met before in high school during the 2023 McDonalds All American Jam Fest. Neither won the event that saw Bronny James go to the finals, but Buzelis’ dunking prowess was the talk of the town the next day.
Best Bet: Matas Buzelis (+750)
Buzelis has experience in dunk contests and that should help him as a dark horse here. In that contest he threw an alley-oop threw his legs off and flushed it one-handed. After maturing and gaining a few years of muscle, he should be able to put up an even more impressive slam. Add in that he was doing work with two-time dunk champ Zach LaVine before he was traded to Sacramento, and he seems like the perfect candidate to upset the reigning two-time champ.
