Two 4-1 teams battle for all the marbles today in the desert, as the Vegas Summer League comes to a close. There are other consolation games on the slate also, but who knows which players will suit up for those teams, so I’m sticking with the game that matters. Let’s end it on a high note. Here are your NBA Summer League predictions and preview for Sunday, July 19th.
NBA Summer League Predictions & Preview for Sunday, July 19th
Golden State Warriors vs Memphis Grizzlies
Start Time – 9:00 PM EST
The Golden State Warriors and the Memphis Grizzlies will cap off the summer league with the tournament’s final game, fittingly for the championship. This game pits the no-name Warriors (L.J. Cryer? Graham Ike? Chance McMillan? Bueller? Bueller? Anyone? ) against the stacked Grizzlies (Cedric Coward, Cameron Boozer, Olivier-Maxence Prosper, Javon Small, Taylor Hendricks).
Golden State isn’t all “nobodys” (no disrespect meant), as they’ve got #11 draft pick Yaxel Lendeborg out of Michigan on the team. And he’s been showing out, leading the team in field goals made, assists, steals, and blocks, as well as scoring 13.6 points per game.
I’ve rode with Griz this far, and there’s no reason to jump off the bandwagon at this point. As I’ve said all summer, their roster combination of high-level rookie talent with veteran NBA players will and has been hard to beat. The Grizzlies will lift the trophy and cover the spread, and we’ll leave Vegas a winner.
Best Bet: Memphis -2.5 (-115)
