Robert Ford III (Montana State) Higher Than 22.5 Points+Rebounds

Montana State plays in a tougher conference and has a better roster than Grambling. The Bobcats should absolutely put it on the Tigers, and Robert Ford III should go off in the First Four match up.

Robert Ford III is coming into the First Four match up averaging 15.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game this year. He’s cleared 22.5 points+rebounds in four of his last five games.

Grambling is 243rd in the nation in shooting percentage this year. On the defensive end, Ford should have plenty of opportunities to grab rebounds.

The Tigers are 161st in the nation in three-point shooting percentage allowed. That’s not terrible, but it’s important to remember that most SWAC teams aren’t great shooting teams. Ford should find opportunities to rack up points, and he should clear his PR total in your Underdog college basketball entry for March 20.

Max Rice (Boise State) Lower Than 18.5 Points+Rebounds+Assists

Boise State’s Max Rice is coming into this First Four match up averaging 12.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. He’s also gone lower than 18.5 in three of his last five games.

The only Pac-12 team Boise State faced this year was Washington State. Rice only managed six points, three boards, and zero assists in 34 minutes of play. Colorado’s defense isn’t quite as good as Wazzu, but they’re still one of the better defenses in the Pac-12.

The Buffaloes are 51st in the nation in three-point shooting percentage. Colorado’s opponents have only made 31.8% of their shots from beyond the arc. A huge part of Rice’s game is shooting the three. The Buffaloes should defend the perimeter well enough to keep Rice from inflicting too much damage.

Rice is also a good ‘glue’ guy. He captains the offense and runs the perimeter defense, which usually means that he does a lot of things that won’t show up in a box score. In this case, we’re betting that he won’t show up in the box score and going lower on his PRA total.

Robbie Avila (Indiana State) Higher Than 3.5 Assists

Indiana State’s Robbie Avila comes into the NIT tournament averaging 3.8 assists per game this year.

Cream Abdul-Jabbar has cleared 3.5 assists in four of his last five games. He also went over against non-conference opponents Rice, Bradley, and Ball State. He missed against Michigan State and Toledo.

The thought process here is that the SMU defense is likely to key on Avila and attempt to keep him from getting his. He should be able to find teammates on the wings or find a few open back doors.

Look for Avila to distribute a bit more and fill the stat sheet against SMU in the NIT. He should have no issue going higher than 3.5 assists, and you’ll want to have him in your Underdog Fantasy college basketball entry for March 20.
