Underdog Fantasy NBA Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – January 26
LaMelo Ball – Lower than 26.5 Points
While I’m picking the Charlotte Hornets to at least cover the spread on Friday against Houston, I don’t foresee LaMelo Ball scoring 27 points or more. Charlotte’s star point guard is averaging 24.3 points per game on the year – less than 26.5, by my math – and has failed to score at least 27 points in two straight games and three of his last five. Plus, Houston, while lousy on the road, is one of the NBA’s top defensive teams.
Brandon Miller – Higher than 18.5 Points
Houston might be a solid defensive unit, but Charlotte rookie Brandon Miller doesn’t care – he’s on a heater. Since returning from injury, he’s topped this 18.5-point mark in all four of the games he’s played in. In fact, he’s scored at least 23 points in all of these games. If the Hornets are going to cover tomorrow, we need Miller to carry the scoring.
Zion Williamson – Lower than 21.5 Points
I don’t get why Zion Williamson’s points line is set this high against Oklahoma City tomorrow, so lower than is the play to make. Williamson has only topped 21.5 points once in his last three games and is barely averaging that amount on the season (21.9 ppg). But the key here is that the Thunder have one of the top defenses in the NBA, so I expect them to keep Zion in check.
