MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – May 11

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Texas Rangers

First Pitch – 8:05 pm EST
Globe Life Field – Arlington, TX
Broadcast – MLB TV

Nathan Eovaldi will be first on the bump on Monday in Texas. He had a bit of a rough start to the season, but has settled in nicely. Over his last two starts, he’s compiled 15.0 innings of work and struck out 15. In that span, he’s allowed just one run and it came on an Aaron Judge solo home run. He’ll get a much easier ask today in the form of this Diamondbacks’ offense. They rank 26th in the league in first inning scoring and have scored just 2.67 runs per game over their last three.

The bottom of the inning gives us another player who is putting in some outstanding outings. While he’s had a rough one here or there, Michael Soroka is putting together a solid year. He has allowed two runs or fewer in three of his last four starts and has already tallied 42 strikeouts on the year. He’ll face a Texas lineup that is stuggling to do much of anything at the plate. Their 3.73 runs per game makes them one of just four teams that have not cracked 4.00 – joined by the Red Sox, Mets and Giants.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for May 11: No (-135)

Seattle Mariners vs. Houston Astros

First Pitch – 8:10 pm EST
Daikin Park – Houston, TX
Broadcast – MLB TV

Peter Lambert might not be a name that casual fans are familiar with, but he has been outstanding in his four starts this year. He’s currently sporting a 2.42 ERA on the year and has fanned 23 in 22.1 innings. He’s coming off of the best outing of his life where he went 7.0 scoreless against the Dodgers. Even more impressive is that he only allowe three hits to that tough lineup. His task won’t quite be as hard on Monday when he faces the Mariners. They rank 25th in scoring with just 4.07 runs per game.

Closing out this NRFI will be George Kirby, who is also under 3.00 in terms of his ERA. While he’s still not a big swing and miss pitcher, he’s been able to keep opponents off the board with weak contact. That’s helped him to put together a streak of five straight games allowing two or fewer runs. Houston has a tough offense, but has sputtered a bit in the last few games. After getting shutout on Sunday, they are averaging just 3.67 runs per game over their last three. Kirby should be able to keep them quiet again, at least for three outs.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for May 11: No (-140)
