The Saints as road favorites? Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric) said he spit out his coffee when he saw that number, and Sean Green (@SeanTGreen) agreed New Orleans had no business laying points on the road right now. The Saints were 1.5-point favorites with a total of 46.5 when the guys taped on October 14, ahead of a Sunday, October 18 at 1:00 PM ET kickoff in East Rutherford, NJ. By the end of the segment on the NFL Picks Week 6 episode, both of them were on the Giants.
Saints vs Giants Odds
The Saints were 1.5-point favorites over the Giants, with a total of 46.5, when the guys taped on October 14.
Our Picks
- Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Giants +1.5
- Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Giants +1.5
Sean opened by saying the spread was less about the Saints than about the Giants, who he said rate as the league’s number one fraud team by the advanced metrics. Ryan wasn’t having it. He argued those models skip what special teams add, granted the Giants haven’t been great on a down-to-down basis, and said the regression talk can wait until they play a good team. In his words, the Saints are not one.
Ryan said he’d rather have the Giants defense “by a mile” at this point. He said it has been creating havoc lately by blitzing more and letting its corners gamble on the outside, and that the Saints quarterback struggled against the blitz once again in his last game. He did call one Saints receiver a worrisome matchup, and Sean thought the Saints receivers would have success. Ryan’s answer: with no run game, “this is not an offense that scares you, and it’s not a defense that scares you.”
Sean’s case for the Saints was mostly a bit. Vegas knows, he said, and the Giants defense might be gassed from celebrating. “Not on our bus,” Ryan shot back. Sean landed on the Giants riding the momentum of the tie to cover the one and a half, and when Ryan said he might build some teasers around numbers like this, Sean called the Giants a great teaser leg.
