Can the Bears keep up with the Seahawks in Seattle? That was the question in our NFL Week 8 picks episode, ahead of the game on Monday, November 2 at 8:15 PM ET in Seattle, WA. Both hosts landed on Bears +3, the number the guys played when they taped on October 28.
Bears vs Seahawks Odds
The Seahawks were 3-point favorites with a total of 46.5 when the guys taped on October 28. On the money line the Bears were listed at +150.
Our Picks
- Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Bears +3
- Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Bears +3
This one started as a reluctant lean. One of the guys called it one of the tougher games on the week, then said his instincts pointed to the Bears and the points anyway. The coaching matchup helped. He would rather be in the corner of Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams than the defensive coach and a Sam Darnold who has looked like old Sam Darnold lately.
The defense was the next piece. The guys pointed to the Bears being seventh in success rate, fourth in pressure rate and third in three-and-outs, and said the yardage totals hide a unit that takes the ball away. They expect interceptions against Darnold to decide the game. They also expect Williams to make the kind of throws Patrick Mahomes was missing in Seattle’s win over the Chiefs, and to attack that defense through the air.
The injury news sealed it. The guys said Seattle’s left tackle, Charles Cross, was dealing with a high ankle sprain, and they expected him to be out. Losing a left tackle was enough to swing a pick for them, and they said the splits with Darnold when Cross is off the field are not good. Seattle’s offense also came up. They said they would not trust it until the run game shows up, which leaves their top receiver carrying a lot of the load.
They did not wave off the other side. The Bears secondary has to deal with that receiver, and they said nobody has managed it. Their answer was that Chicago scores enough to stay in it, and that the Bears might end up as the public side. They are fine with that, and both took the three points.
