Start with the Colts secondary, because the guys did. In this Colts vs Jaguars matchup on Sunday, November 1 at 1:00 PM ET in Jacksonville, FL, Ryan thought a banged-up Indianapolis pass defense had no answer for the Jaguars’ receivers working the middle of the field. Both hosts laid the 10 points, the number the Jaguars carried when the guys taped on October 28. Here is how they got there.
Colts vs Jaguars Odds
The Jaguars were 10-point home favorites with a total of 46.5 when the guys taped on October 28. The money line, as read on air, was Jaguars -485 and Colts +385.
Our Picks
- Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Jaguars -10
- Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Jaguars -10
The talk opened on what the Colts gave up. Sean wondered how much losing DeForest Buckner and Quenton Nelson should matter in a division game, and he cited a Walter Football breakdown saying teams tend to bounce back the game after they sell. He thought the reaction to those trades was overdone. He also said the Jaguars are always an auto play at home against the Colts and that they are coming off a bye.
Ryan went at the matchup. He said the Colts secondary was in worse shape, with a cluster of injuries, and that the Jaguars’ quarterback works best with Jakobi Meyers and Parker Washington over the middle. Without Buckner on the field, he said, Indianapolis might get stouter against the run but loses a lot of pass rush. He also said the Jaguars might be the best offense in the AFC and that the Colts’ defense had just played a bad Vikings offense.
Sean followed Ryan’s Thursday look-ahead note with a trend for home favorites in that spot. Ryan said he notes it but gives it little weight in this spot. When Sean said double digits for a division dog is a lot, Ryan answered that Tyler Warren has a groin injury, and with where the Colts are as a team, he did not expect them to rush him back. He was still fine laying the 10.
Sean closed it out with Daniel Jones, who he said is best as a three- to seven-point underdog and sits under .500 against the spread when the number grows. He added that Indianapolis ranks 30th in ball security while Jacksonville is fourth in takeaways. His call was the Jaguars, and Ryan was in on the chalk too.
