Colby built the case around the calendar. BYU fans have been talking about the Notre Dame game since May, some calling it the biggest game in program history, and he heard a show on his drive call it the biggest game of the year for the Big 12. That makes Iowa State a classic look-ahead spot. He also wasn’t sold on BYU’s last win, noting they got it done with only 216 yards of offense.

He was honest about the risk. Colby called this the game he trusted least of everything they had picked so far, and he admitted Iowa State may not do much on offense. His view is that the two teams are mirror images, with BYU the better version, and that Iowa State’s defense, rebuilt by a staff that came over from Washington State, is good enough to keep it ugly. He likes the under too, and floated a 21-0 kind of final.

Sean raised the obvious worry: Iowa State against a running quarterback, on a short week, at elevation. He also passed along a point from the chat that laying double digits is where BYU gets slippery. In the end the look-ahead spot was what jumped out most, so he took Iowa State +10.5.
