The 49ers moved to 3-0 last week with a 16-15 win over the Arizona Cardinals. The win game on a last second field goal off the foot of new kicker Eddie Pineiro, who was replacing the recently cut Jake Moody. That wasn’t the first close call for this San Francisco squad. They just held off the Saints in Week 2 and had scored late in Week 1 to steal a victory from Seattle. Now they’ll get Brock Purdy back under center, for the first time since Week 1, as they welcome the Jaguars to town.

The Jaguars are no strangers to close calls either. They battled off a Texans squad with a touchdown with under two minutes left. They were burnt by the reverse in Week 2 against the Bengals, led by Jake Browning, who was the one to run it in. Now they’ll look to make it two straight win for the first time this season. In order to do that, their offense – particularly their run game – will have to be a little more active.

Jacksonville Jaguars at San Francisco 49ers Preview and Predictions

Brock Purdy 250+ Passing Yards (+100)

I know Brock Purdy is coming back for the first time since Week 1, but I love his passing yard total for this game. While two weeks away can do a lot, he looked great in his lone game. He threw for an easy 277 yards in that one while completing nearly 75% of his throws. Even with him out, the 49ers put up numbers in the air. Now he and San Francisco get a defense that has been struggling with the passing game. The Jaguars are two weeks removed from giving up 241 to Bengals backup Jake Browning. Purdy should be able to find Pearsall and gang enough to eclipse this mark.

San Francisco 49ers -3.5 (-110)

Although the 49ers have been in some barn-burners, it’s not exactly like the Jaguars have dazzled against high level competition. Additionally, I think the return of Brock Purdy is going to be big for their offense. Give Christian McCaffrey his trusty sidekick back and this offense should be firing on all cylinders. I’ll take them to cover the 3.5 they’re laying on Jacksonville.
