NFL Week 1 was full of action! Players we didn’t expect stepped forward, players we did expect to do well didn’t. Others performed exactly how we thought they would. There were a total of 57 touchdowns scored in Week 1. How many will there be in Week 2, and which players should we bet? Let’s take a look at some of the best NFL Week 2 Anytime Touchdown Bets.
NFL Week 2 Anytime Touchdown Bets
Justin Fields (+165)
All offseason, I said you had to take the over on Justin Fields’ rushing touchdowns. He was only at 6.5 in the preseason. After Week 1, he’s already at two. Running the ball has always been a forte of Fields. However, in the past, it has been as if the coaches have told him to ignore his instincts to take off.
The Jets appear to have given him the go-ahead to play football the way he should. Last week, he ran the ball 12 times for 48 yards and two touchdowns. This week, the Jets play the Bills, who just let Lamar Jackson run for 70 yards and a touchdown.
The Jets are going to have to move the ball any way they can to keep up with this Josh Allen-led offense. I think that means Fields gets into the endzone. At +165, he’s a great value on our NFL Week 2 anytime touchdowns.
Two Chalky Running Backs
Sometimes it’s okay to take the chalk. Especially if you want to work it into a parlay or round robin. Kyren Williams (-175) and Chase Brown (-160) have chalky odds, but these two guys continue to produce over and over and have to be considered in your NFL Week 2 anytime touchdown bets.
Last year, there were only four games in which Kyren Williams didn’t score a touchdown. Therefore, it was no surprise to see him get into the endzone in Week 1. Williams carried the rock 18 times for 66 yards and a touchdown. He’s the only player on the Rams who had more than one designed carry.
Another stud to back for the touchdown bets is Chase Brown. The Bengals tend to start slow and that was no different last week. However, their desire to carry the ball was very evident as Brown had 21 carries. He scored a touchdown on one of those carries. Brown also gets involved in the passing game, giving him even more opportunities for an anytime touchdown.
DK Metcalf (+165)
We all wondered how the Rodgers to Metcalf connection would look. Rodgers develops interesting relationships with receivers and always has throughout his career. However, Rodgers seems to have figured out what we all know – DK Metcalf is a dog.
Leading the team in targets, receptions, and yards, Metcalf was looked to often by Rodgers. He didn’t score a touchdown last week, but I think Rodgers will work to reward him for last week’s performance. Metcalf made big plays on short passes and bailed Rodgers out several times.
Say what you want about Rodgers and how his career has gone the past few years. However, he looked rejuvenated in his fresh start and I think it will continue. Do I expect him to throw four touchdown passes every game? No. However, I do expect him to throw one to DK Metcalf. At +165 this week, it’s a good payout and a good addition to your NFL Week 2 anytime touchdown bets
Jalen Hurts (-110)
Jalen Hurts and the Eagles picked up right where they left off last year, which included him scoring a rushing touchdown. The Eagles have a lot of weapons, including Hurts, Saquon Barkley, AJ Brown, Dallas Goedert, and more. However, Hurts ability to vulture touchdowns inside the two-yard line has been a staple of this offense.
The last time the Eagles and the Chiefs played, Hurts ran for 72 yards and a touchdown. By the way, don’t forget to play his rushing ladder that I gave out on Old-Fashioned Football. He’s a good choice for the NFL Week anytime touchdown bets as well at -110.
Jordan Mason (+100)
All offseason, I said Jordan Mason was going to be the RB1 of the Minnesota Vikings. While Aaron Jones got a receiving touchdown, Mason outcarried him 15 times to eight. He was also more efficient, rushing for 68 yards on those carries, compared to Jones’ 23.
This offense should continue to get better as J.J. McCarthy settles in. They should also continue to rely on the run game as it plays to McCarthy’s strengths, which will mean more carries for Mason. He looked explosive in his first regular-season game as a Viking, just as he was with the 49ers.
The Falcons’ defense held the Bucs’ running game, but I think the Vikings will continue to commit to the run, and Mason will get several carries inside the ten-yard line. At +100, he’s a fun bet to throw into your NFL Week 2 anytime touchdown bets, especially if you want to parlay him with a guy like Kyren Williams or Chase Brown.
