The Texans started 5-1 in 2024, DeMeco Ryans’ second year as the head coach. They ended the season 10-7 winning the AFC South and beat the Justin Herbert led Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card round before suffering a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Round. The team named massive changes overhauling their offensive line. They signed Joe Mixon, but he won’t see action in Week 1, it’ll likely be the Nick Chubb and Damien Pierce show from the backfield. Keep an eye on Woody Marks, a rookie who may get worked into the rotation.
For the Rams, they return Matthew Stafford, who’s been dealing with injury issues all preseason. All signs point to him being good to go for Week 1. Devante Adams was added to the team to replace the departing Cooper Kupp at wide receiver. Sean McVay will have this unit ready to roll as he does every season.
Houston Texans at Los Angeles Rams Preview and Predictions
Kyren Williams Over 68.5 Rushing Yards (-115)
Kyren Williams was a stud last year for the Rams. Racking up 1,299 yards over 16 games. He went over 69 yards in six of the last seven games of the year and 12 of the last 13. There’s no reason to believe he’s going to slow down at all this year. With Matthew Stafford’s back issues, look for them to lean on Kyren, like they did all of last season.
Los Angeles Rams -3 (-110)
This should be a good matchup between two expected playoff teams. I’ve got to roll with the home team here. Sean McVay, the boy genius head coach is stellar in Week 1’s with time to prepare. He’s 6-2 in Week 1 with the Rams, and one of those losses even came in overtime. Expect it to be close, but the experience of McVay and Stafford comes in clutch at the end.
