5 Ways to Bet MLB All-Star Week

Longest HR in the Home Run Derby

Favorite: Oneil Cruz (+145)
Best Bet: Byron Buxton (+450)

We all know that this Home Run Derby field has plenty of big fly power. While Ronald Acuna has bowed out of the action due to back stiffness, that doesn’t mean we don’t have eight guys that can launch the ball. If we’re handicapping the field, there are the guys with the huge exit velocities, and there is the guy who’s currently on the leaderboard. I, personally, am going with the only guy sitting in the top 10 longest home runs of this year – Byron Buxton. Buxton hit one 479 feet earlier this year, which is only behind Mike Trout’s 484-foot blast. The next player we see on the list in the derby is Oneil Cruz, who comes in at 16th.

Home Run Derby Winner

Favorite: Cal Raleigh (+295)
Best Bet: Junior Caminero (+1200)

The favorite for this competition was the aforementioned Ronald Acuna. However, with him out the betting attention has turned to “The Big Dumper” and has installed him as the new favorite. While he’s at hot as can be right now, he’s not really the build of a guy who does well in the Home Run Derby. For that reason, I’m rolling the dice on a down ballot candidate. I like the breakout Junior Caminero to shock the world. He’s got a swing that seems like it doesn’t take a ton of energy and has been great at hitting them out to all fields.

Paul Skenes Strikeout Prop

Over 1.5 Strikeouts: TBD
Under 1.5 Strikeouts: TBD

Paul Skenes is the name that everyone wants to see in this game. At least part of this handicap has to be figuring out how much he’ll throw. He only threw one last year, which would be what I’m expecting again. Now, he also didn’t strike anybody out in that one, but he’s a better pitcher now. After adding some offspeed stuff in the offseason, I like his chances to start this game off with some electricity. Give me the over in this one.

The All-Star Game Total

Over 7.5 Runs: -110
Under 7.5 Runs: -110

Last year’s All-Star Game ended with a 5-3 score, which was the first time in five years that the All-Star Game went over the 7.5 total. In fact, there has only been eight runs or more scored in two of the last eight games. The list of big arms in the 2025 game is amazing. Skenes, Skubal, Crochet, Fried, Wheeler, Misiorowski – there is going to be some heat thrown on Tuesday. I’ll expect it to return to the under this year.

The ALl-Star Game Winner

American League: -108
National League: -121

We discussed some trends before and one of the one that gets talked about the most is the American League dominance. Over the last 36 midsummer classics, the American League has posted a 28-7-1 mark. That’s impressive, but it’s not the same group of players doing it every year. I think the talent in the National League has started to surpass the American League. I like the arms they’ll be throwing as well – so we’ll take the chalk here.
