Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs Preview and Predictions

Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs Preview and Predictions

We’re in for a thriller in Kansas City for Sunday Night Football. Justin Herbert and his Los Angeles Chargers head to America’s heartland to take on Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. The teams will meet at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC’s Sunday Night Football. Let’s take a look at this Chargers-Chiefs preview and predictions.

Los Angeles comes into this game at 8-4 and in possession of the AFC’s first wild card spot. Three games behind the Chiefs in the division is a tall task for the Chargers to overcome, but they are high on their hopes of making the playoffs. In the teams’ first matchup back in Week 4, they lost by a score of 17-10.

Kansas City is 11-1 and leads the AFC, currently holding the #1 overall seed in the AFC’s playoffs. The last four weeks haven’t been pretty for Kansas City though. They almost lost to Denver and then lost to Buffalo the next week. The last two weeks they barely survived the Panthers and then Raiders. They managed to win three of those four games even in ugly fashion.

Justin Herbert Over 19.5 Rushing Yards (-115)

When Justin Herbert needs to use his legs to help the team out, he’s very good at it. In four of the Chargers’ last six games, Herbert has surpassed this number including 65 yards on the ground against the Bengals and 49 against the Saints.

Facing off against a tough team and a star quarterback under the lights in prime time brings out the best in these stud quarterbacks and they go the extra mile, or in this case, 20 yards.

Los Angeles Chargers +4.5 (-114)

The Chiefs are the two-time defending Super Bowl champions and are regarded as the best team in the NFL. They just haven’t played like it lately, winning way-to-close games against the Broncos, Panthers, and Raiders. Now a hungry Los Angeles team comes to town in primetime. The Chiefs may be able to sleepwalk their way to a win, but the Chargers will at least keep it close, and I wouldn’t count them out for winning this game.
