The doubts about Ten Hag resurfaced when United were put to the sword 3-0 by fierce rivals Liverpool on their own patch before the international break, but the last week has given the team a big lift and they look capable of building upon two strong victories.
They won 3-0 at Southampton when many thought a trip to St Mary’s was a potential banana skin and while it would be easy to get carried away by a 7-0 League Cup win over League One Barnsley, they should have momentum on their side on their way to south London.
