Memphis vs Iowa State Odds

Iowa State was the favorite at -13.5 over Memphis when the guys taped on October 29.

Our Picks

Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Iowa State -13.5
Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Iowa State -13.5
Colby Dant (@thecolbyd): Iowa State -13.5

The segment started with the location. The guys wondered why Iowa State and Memphis signed up for South Dakota, since neither is rewarding its fan base with the trip. Knowing nothing about the teams, the first reaction to 13.5 was that Memphis must be bad this year.

Then came the distance. Colby guessed a five-hour drive from Ames. Roughly 270 miles by road, he was told, and the guys joked that Midwest folks will gas up the minivans for that. Memphis fans, they figured, will not make the trip, so the building should lean Iowa State. The guys said Penny Hardaway threw some of his own money into NIL for the Memphis roster.

Colby was the one who moved. He opened by saying he was going to take the points and had not factored in how many other people would do the same. He liked Memphis bringing in an A&M transfer and a slew of other guys. He still ended up laying the number, calling 13.5 a big-ass number at a place that would be lit for Iowa State.

One of the guys added that KenPom is the shortest of the analytics projections and still has 13, and landed on Iowa State too. That made it unanimous.
