Winthrop vs Queens Odds

Queens was a 1-point favorite over Winthrop when the guys taped on October 29. That is close to a pick’em.

Our Picks

Sean started on Winthrop. His argument was about the odd tip time. Sleeping in your own bed for game one, he figured, beats a team coming in from New York and staying in a cheap motel. Colby said Winthrop was projected as one of the top teams in the Big South, and he gave the program credit for it. The guys did not argue the Winthrop talent.

Then Colby turned it around. Queens University is a fan of the show, so he called this a personal play. He pointed to Grant Leonard, who he said is in year six and has built the program up, and to a returning group that he thinks makes this the best Queens team in a while. His line was to give him the Royals.

The part that swung Sean was geography. Queens is in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Colby said they were coming down about 25 or 30 miles. Sean had assumed a long trip from New York. Once he heard it was the Queen City, he said his whole travel handicap went out the window. Everyone finished on Queens, and Sean said Colby bullied him into it.
