MMA Regional Pick of the Week: LFA 245
LFA Light Heavyweight Fight: Matt Adams vs Shealor Ladd
Card Start Time: Friday (10/30), 7:30pm EST (VICE TV)
On the main card in Niagara Falls, we have a battle between a couple of names that might be familiar to some. Shealor Ladd is a prospect and younger brother of former UFC contender Aspen Ladd. He’ll be facing off with a man who was recently on Dana White’s Contender Series, Matt Adams.
While Adams got obliterated in his Contender Series bout by Anthony Wint, there are a lot of circumstances that point to why. He has been completely overhauling his physique in an effort to go from a super heavyweight down to 205lbs. He was more than halfway there when the UFC called and asked him to be in a heavyweight bout. He notably got bodied by the former New York Jets linebacker, but that shouldn’t sway how we feel about him in his new weight class.
In fact, I think there are a lot of attributes that lead me to believe he’ll be solid here. For one, he has looked sharp with his hands in each of his fights. The film on him at this weight class seems to hint that he’s going to be even faster. Ladd is a fighter who has had issues with those who can hit him on the way in. Additionally, Adams may be able to deal with that strength being that he’s much smaller than the guys he usually has to wrestle.
As a result, the value on Adams is too good to pass up.
