Ryan went first and went big. His read is that Harbaugh is starting McCarthy to help the running game, which means some read option and a quarterback who has nothing to lose and is being told to play that way. Throw it to Isaiah Likely, throw it to the receivers, and lean on the run. He put a number on it: if the lead back doesn’t reach 15 carries, the Giants are in trouble. He also expects a sharper effort on special teams after a game where the Giants had to play with 10 men on the field.

Sean wasn’t buying it. He brought up the injury list, with the offensive line banged up and concussions in the secondary, and Ryan countered that most of those players sound like they have a chance to go. Sean’s bigger point was the matchup. The Giants have had some success blitzing lately, and he said Houston has been the best offense in the league against the blitz. He also cited the Giants at minus three net yards per play on the road. Add Stroud playing well and DeMeco Ryans facing a quarterback without many starts, and Sean said he was with the sharps in laying the big number.

Ryan’s answer was the cleanest case for the dog: back Houston and you are laying 10 with Stroud while counting on McCarthy to blow the game for you. He called Harbaugh getting 10 points a pretty strong angle. For the record, both of them said on air that they think McCarthy stinks. They just disagree about how much that matters at this number. The segment closed with Sean calling the Giants the public side and Ryan telling him his bet splits were lying to him.
