Laying three on the road asks a lot of a team running out of healthy bodies, and that is the question the 49ers face in Atlanta. Sean built his case on the schedule. San Francisco is coming off a Monday night game, flying east on a short week, and has a bye waiting on the other side. He pointed out that Shanahan has been 7-0 against the spread after a Monday Night Football win, so he gave the coach his due, but he thinks the injuries finally catch up here. When the team’s top receiver went down last game, Sean said not one other receiver drew a target, and Brock Purdy was holding the ball long against a Falcons front he thinks gets more pressure than people expect.

The matchup piece is Bijan Robinson. The guys liked pass-catching running backs against this 49ers defense back on the prop show, and Sean thinks Stefanski has to be kicking himself for getting away from Bijan last week, when he ran nine times for 61 yards and caught only two balls. A 6-0 team that would be fine at 6-1 heading into the bye, against a desperate Falcons team at home, is the spot Sean wants.

Kramer had been circling this one from the start. He noted the 49ers defense looks great on the surface, top five in DVOA, but sits bottom 10 in adjusted line yards, so a team that sticks to the run can push them around. He also flagged a key piece of the offense getting hobbled after a goal-line play last game and said the Falcons should be able to dial up pressure on Purdy. His one worry is the 49ers simply running it down Atlanta’s throat in a low-scoring, clock-burning game, which is about as close as either of them came to the total.
