NFL Picks Week 2 Recap
NFL Week 2 picks are here. Sean Green (@SeanTGreen) and Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric) run all 16 games on the board. They go card by card, from Thursday night in Buffalo to Monday night at SoFi. The guys land on opposite sides of four games. Then they hand out their locks, their dogs, the teaser legs, the Circa Million card and the survivor pick.
Kramer sat down and said this week was already circled for him, like he had seen these exact games before. The board backed him up. The two of them landed on the same side of 12 of the 16 games, which is a lot of agreement for this show. Meanwhile the four they split on are spread right across the weekend, from the Sunday early window to Monday night at SoFi.
Thursday is the one nobody had to argue about. Detroit walks into Buffalo’s new building down three of the five offensive linemen it expected to start, on a short week, off an overtime game that ran long. Sean’s trend sheet has teams coming off overtime into a Thursday at 6-25 against the number. Jared Goff outdoors behind a patched line in a loud primetime spot is not the version of Goff you want. Lay the points and go to bed.
After that it is mostly a week of selling Week 1. Kramer’s word for Green Bay’s loss to Minnesota is fugazi: 6.3 yards a play and a 17-point loss do not belong on the same box score. So they buy the Packers on the road and sell a Jets team that got a perfect afternoon out of Geno Smith against a bad Tennessee outfit. Same logic puts them on the Chargers, since the Raiders beat up a young Miami defense and the advanced numbers hated them anyway.
The rest of the agreements come quick. Chicago, because Carson Wentz always finds the giveaway eventually. Pittsburgh plus five is really a bet against Drake Maye in the rain. Cincinnati plus two and a half is a number Kramer refuses to buy off of, banged-up Joe Burrow and all. New Orleans gets eight and a half from a Baltimore team with a flight to Brazil on its mind, Philadelphia lays seven on Cam Ward‘s year-two regression, and Miami gets 13 off San Francisco’s flight home from Australia. Indianapolis plus six and a half is Jonathan Taylor running the damn ball at a Chiefs defense Denver never bothered to test, with Andy Reid carrying a 9-17 mark against the number in Week 2.
Where The Guys Split On NFL Week 2 Picks
Four games broke the room. Kramer will not lay a short number on the road with Bryce Young in a division game, so he takes Atlanta at home. Sean talked himself onto Carolina, then off it, then back on, mostly out of spite for Cooper Rush. Jacksonville at Denver is the loud one. Kramer has the wrong team favored and made the Jaguars his top lock. Sean thinks a bad tackling night gets cleaned up in a week and Mile High handles the rest. Seattle at Arizona is Drew Lock as a road favorite, a hard no for Sean, and the Circa bet splits agree with him. Kramer lays it anyway and admits it will not be going on his contest card. Finally, Monday night, Sean has the Rams off a week of rest, and Kramer, who will be in the building, is with his Giants.
The Locks, The Dogs And The Circa Cards
Kramer locked Jacksonville, Green Bay and Indianapolis, took the Bengals money line as his dog, and teased Philadelphia, Tampa Bay and Cincinnati. Sean locked Buffalo, Chicago and New Orleans, took the Commanders money line for his dog since that Dallas defense is capable of losing a game by itself, and teased Philadelphia, Cincinnati and the Rams. The Circa Million card is Bears, Packers, Colts, Saints and Chargers. One survivor entry is still alive after the Chargers buried the other one, and the guys are not getting cute with what is left. Tampa Bay, at home, off a loss, with Baker Mayfield feeling dangerous.
