With the college football season a little over a month away, it’s time to start thinking about College Football futures. What better way to do that than with the new CFB 27 game from EA Sports, which was just released? Placing your bets based on a video game may seem reckless. However, if you’re like me, it seems fun. Let’s take a look at who the 2026 College Football National Championship bets should be placed on, according to CFB 27. Stay tuned for more college football futures articles based on CFB 27 results. We actually cashed a good amount of money on this last year, so we’re running it back.
College Football National Championship Bets According To CFB 27
The Set Up
Before I jump into who you should place your college football national championship futures bets based on CFB 27, let’s talk about the setup real quick. I did not want random league injuries created by a video game to skew results. Yes, injuries happen in real life. However, injuries are so unpredictable, and I wasn’t sure how often CFB27 would throw injuries in.
CFB27 also gives you two roster options. I went with the active roster. From everything I read, it is supposed to give you the most up-to-date roster. It imports it each time, indicating it’s not just the standard roster that the game came with (even though the game is very new).
I set the quarter length to be 15 minutes. None of this five-minute, quickened version of the game. I wanted the simulation to be as close to a real football game as possible, factoring in possible fatigue at different points throughout the season.
Finally, I took control of a defensive coordinator spot on a team that was 0 stars, and changed nothing else. So we have no injuries, fifteen-minute quarters, and active rosters to base our CFB26 outcomes on. The next step was easy. I just simulated to the end of the season and used that for the results on who the 2026 College Football National Champions were to place our futures bets on, based on the results from CFB 27.
Don’t forget to check back, as we have a Heisman bets article based on CFB27, the best College Football futures bets to place, as well as sharing results and bets based on simulating 100 different times. This article is just based on one simulation, the very first simulation.
The 2026 CFB Playoff Bracket
In our first simulation of the NCAA College Football 2026 season, we’ll take a look at bets that make sense based on the results. Last year, Miami was plus-money to make the CFP. However, the Hurricanes were the Championship pick of the video game, at 40/1. I suggested taking it, and I rode that bet all the way to the Championship, which gave us a nice hedge or cash-out opportunity.
First, let’s go over the favorites that the CFB 27 game gave out today. Then we’ll talk about what college football bets we can make off of those. Remember, this is one simulation. I’m compiling data and will have an article that gives some futures bets based on 100 simulations to give us even more data to go off of.
Favorites – Chalk
This first simulation saw favorites Indiana, Oregon, Notre Dame, Georgia, Ohio State, and Miami make the playoffs. These are heavily juiced teams and expected to be in, based on the books’ projections. Ohio State is the biggest favorite at -360, ranging down to Georgia at -240.
Adding these to your college football bets may not make a ton of sense, unless you’re putting them in parlays. In fact, if you parlay these six favorites to make the CFP, you’ll get a +381 payout if they pan out and it works.
Dogs – Plus Money
For dogs that made it, my favorite one is Boise State at +450. Remember, this is where we made some nice cash last year with Miami. Tennessee is also +450, but as a Boise State fan, they have to be my favorite. Virginia is the longest shot team that the game put in the CFP at +950.
The other teams that made it include SMU (+350), BYU (+330), and USC (+240).BYU is intriguing to me as well at +330. The Big 12 usually has some disparity and they’ve built themselves a strong program. The parlay, Boise State, and BYU are my favorite out of this first simulation. If it holds true, we’ll cash some plus money bets. Now let’s take a look at who you should bet for the National Championship, based on the first simulation of CFB 27.
The 2026 College Football National Championship Futures Bet
The game went chalk for our National Championship futures bet. However, when the chalk is still at +600, we like the odds. This is the sixth consecutive year that the Buckeyes are the favorites to win it all. Ryan Day has built a championship-caliber program and consistently won enough games to make the CFP.
The Buckeyes have elite talent across the entire roster, especially on defense. They were one of the best defensive units in the NCAA last year. I don’t expect that to change. Yes, their schedule is considered one of the toughest in the country. However, that can forge a team into success. After a grueling regular season, the CFP may come easy to Ohio State. Especially since they’ll already be battle-tested.
Last year, Julian Sayin took over the starting quarterback job and showed his poise under pressure. On top of that, he showed elite accuracy. This could be the year he qualifies for the Heisman Trophy, wins it, and wins the National Championship. I’m placing a bet right now on the Ohio State Buckeyes to win the National Championship. EA Sports CFB 27 is just backing my decision.
