College Football 2026: ACC Preview, Odds, and Best Bets

College Football will be here before we know it, and while Colby Dant and Moneyline Mac are kicking out team preview episodes, we’re breaking down conference previews! The season starts in a little over a month with Week 0 on August 27th. Today we are previewing the ACC conference. Let’s dive into the ACC preview, take a look at the odds, and share a few best bets.

Last year, Duke ended up taking the conference with a 6-2 record. Despite winning the conference, it was actually Miami that caught most of the attention by finishing 13-3 and making the College Football Playoffs. Carson Beck is no longer their quarterback, and they lost a plethora of defenders. However, they are still the odds-on favorites to win.

Several teams went through coaching changes in hopes of turning their program around. Virginia Tech brought James Franklin in, which is one of the biggest hires in recent ACC history. California fired their longtime coach Justin Wilcox and brought in first-time head coach Tosh Lupoi, Oregon’s former defensive coordinator. Stanford also has a first-time head coach in Tavita Pritchard.

Perhaps the biggest news is that two of Duke’s players, quarterback Darian Mensah and wide receiver Cooper Barkate, transferred from Duke to Miami. Mensah led Duke to the 2025 ACC title, and Barkate was a productive All-ACC-level receiver.

Duke lost a lot of their talent and, after winning the conference last year, have fallen to +6500 to win this year.

2026 ACC Best Bets

Louisville Over 8.5 Wins (+134)

One of the biggest things I like about Louisville is their friendly schedule. They start on the road against Ole Miss before taking on Villanova, SMU, and Wake Forest at home. Then they hit the road to NC State, back home against Florida State, and then on the road again against Syracuse.

Louisville closes out at home against Stanford, two road games against Georgia Tech and UNC, at home against Pittsburgh, and on the road against Kentucky. All eyes will be on Ohio State transfer quarterback Lincoln Kienholz. As long as he picks the offense up quickly, he should have this team winning. They also have one of the best bell-cow backs in the NCAA in Isaac Brown.

This defense should also be solid. There’s an easy path for Louisville to push Miami for the top spot in the ACC, and it’s one of the reasons I love Louisville bets. Taking them to win over 8.5 wins feels easy at +134.

Virginia Tech Over 7.5 Wins (+170)

Am I putting too much faith in James Franklin by expecting Virginia Tech to jump from three wins to eight? Perhaps. However, it’s hard to fade him in our ACC bets. Franklin finished with a 104-45 coaching record with Penn State. Prior to that, he coached Vanderbilt. In his last two years at Vanderbilt, he finished with a 9-4 record.

This coach just wins. Therefore, I think he can step in as the head coach and make immediate changes. It helps matters that a quarterback he’s worked with before, Ethan Grunkemeyer, transferred from Penn State to Virginia Tech. He wasn’t the only former Nittany Lion who followed their former coach to Virginia Tech.

This could develop into a quick turnaround for a Hokie team that’s hungry for wins. They’ll be bowl eligible this year if the younger pieces can develop. It’ll help starting the season with two wins against VMI and Old Dominion. They’ll then just need to find five more wins to cash this one, and I think they do.

Louisville To Make The CFP (+550)

Look, we all know it’s most likely going to be Miami that wins the ACC conference, and yes, you should place some bets on that. However, who wants to come to an article to be told you should take a bet juiced to -140? Therefore, I’m suggesting placing some cash on Louisville to make the CFP. Their conference price is even higher, at +800. However, I like picking them to make the CFP with the thought that they may just have a great season, but still lose the conference to Miami.

Louisville’s schedule isn’t too bad, as you saw the breakdown up above. In fact, their toughest game may be against SMU, and it takes place in Louisville. With all the help in the transfer portal and the improvement in the trenches, this team should be ready to roll. They should be able to control the clock in most games with their run game, and as long as Lincoln Kienholz plays smart football, this team has a high ceiling.
