After hosting UFC 312 in Sydney, Australia this past weekend, the UFC octagon is back on its home turf this Saturday night, with UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs Rodrigues (aka UFC Vegas 102) going down in the cozy confines of the UFC Apex. For my MMA Underdog Pick of the Week: UFC Vegas 102, I’ve got a live dog in the opening fight on Saturday’s main card. Let’s go!

MMA Underdog Pick of the Week: UFC Vegas 102
UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs Rodrigues (AKA UFC VEgas 102)
Start Time: 4:00 PM EST (ESPN+)
We on the MMA Gambling Podcast hit Andre Petroski as a +300 dog three years ago, and he’s been a favorite of ours ever since (to be fair we liked him before that fight as well, or we wouldn’t have taken him as such a big dog). Now the nine-fight UFC veteran finds himself a decent-sized dog once again for this Saturday’s matchup against Rodolfo Vieira.
And I’m obviously in on him. This is a grappler (Vieira) vs wrestler (Petroski) matchup, and in those cases, I think it’s best to take the wrestler. Petroski is so physically strong I think Vieira is going to have trouble grappling with him. And if so and this turns into a striking battle, Petroski, while not great on the feet, is much better and more powerful a striker than Vieira. Plus he’s got a massive cardio advantage.
