The UFC octagon has set up shop in the Qudos Bank Arena down in Sydney, Australia this weekend for UFC 312, an Australian-heavy fight card. For my SGPN Parlay for Saturday (February 8th): UFC Parlay, I’m parlaying my picks to win the two title fights on top of the card (which actually have no Australians fighting in either of them).

UFC 312: Du Plessis vs Strickland 2

As the title of the event suggests, we’re getting a rematch in UFC 312’s main event. Dricus du Plessis won his UFC Middleweight Championship off of Sean Strickland in January of last year at UFC 297. While Strickland outlanded du Plessis in that fight in terms of strikes landed, DDP’s were more meaningful and impactful, leading to a decision victory for him. He also outwrestled Strickland. Rinse and repeat in the rematch.
In the co-main event, I see a new champion being crowned. Tatiana Suarez could never stay healthy long enough to fight very often, but she’s undefeated in her career and apparently healthy enough to challenge Zhang Weili for the UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship tomorrow. Suarez was an Olympic-level wrestler and should be able to lean on this strength to usurp the champ and get the belt wrapped around her waist in Sydney.
