It’s almost Super Bowl Sunday! The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles are set to meet at Caesar’s Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana to crown an NFL champion. The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to become the first franchise in NFL history to win three Super Bowls in a row. Philadelphia is the only team that can stop them now. So, let’s take a look at how the Philadelphia Eagles will win Super Bowl LIX.
These teams met just two years ago in Super Bowl LVII at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Offense was in full force throughout the game with the Chiefs winning a thriller 38-35 on a Harrison Butker field goal late in the game after a questionable holding call against Eagles defensive back James Bradberry.
The question now is, how can the Eagles flip that final score and be the ones to come out on top in Super Bowl LIX. One could certainly argue this team is built much better than the team from Super Bowl LVII, with a completely revamped secondary and of course the addition of superstar Saquon Barkley.
59 Bets for Super Bowl LIX: Kansas City Chiefs vs Philadelphia Eagles
How the Philadelphia Eagles Will Win Super Bowl LIX
Win the Turnover Battle
Arguably the most important thing for the Philadelphia Eagles to win this game is to win the turnover battle. When you are facing the genius that is Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. You simply cannot allow them the opportunity to get the ball in short field and extra times.
Jalen Hurts had a key fumble in the first Super Bowl matchup, but the Eagles have been great in the turnover battle throughout the playoffs. The Eagles have a +10 margin throughout this playoff run, compared to the Chiefs having just a -1 differential. Hurts has thrown just five interceptions all season, and only fumbled four times. If the Eagles can stay disciplined with the ball, it’ll be a huge key to victory for them.
Use ALL of Your Weapons
Saquon Barkley is going to get his, and the Eagles can’t afford to get away from him in this game. That being said, the Eagles need to approach this game with a balanced attack. Run Barkley, run Hurts. Throw the ball to AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, and Jahan Dotson.
In my opinion, DeVonta Smith could be a huge key to victory for the Eagles on Sunday. Smith has shown up big in big games in his career. He set the College Football National Championship Game record with 12 receptions for 215 yards and three touchdowns. Most of which was done in the first half of the game before a dislocated finger set him out for the second half. In their last Super Bowl appearance Smith once again came up big with seven catches for 100 yards.
All of the Chiefs focus will be on stopping Barkley and the running game. So maximizing all of the Eagles’ weapons will be key. A few bets I’m placing on Smith in this game include MVP (50/1), first touchdown (16/1), over 51.5 receiving yards, and laddering those yards to 130+ at 20/1).
Get a Lead, and Keep it.
The Eagles drove down the field in the opening drive in Super Bowl LVIII and scored a touchdown. In the second quarter they took a 10-point lead. If the Eagles can do this again, using Saquon Barkley to slow the game down and keep the Chiefs at a distance. This will not allow a single call on the field to change the entire game.
The Eagles have been much better at not taking their foot off the gas. See the NFC Championship game for that. They can’t afford to blow leads like they did to Washington when Jalen Hurts was injured and Atlanta earlier in the season.
Prediction: Philadelphia Eagles 38 – Kansas City Chiefs 31
I think the Eagles start the game off hot and Kansas City will have to play catch up. Like the first Super Bowl, plenty of points will be scored, so bet the over. The Eagles will have a two-touchdown lead in the fourth quarter, and be able to slow the game down enough to keep Patrick Mahomes from working his magic. They’ll dethrone the Chiefs, and become the Super Bowl LIX Champions.
