Minnesota Vikings at Jacksonville Jaguars Preview and Predictions

Minnesota Vikings at Jacksonville Jaguars Preview and Predictions

Sam Darnold and the Minnesota Vikings hit the road to take on Mac Jones and the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday. The teams will meet at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida for a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff on FOX. The forecast shows a little rain the teams might have to battle. So, let’s jump in and take a look at this game and the Vikings-Jaguars preview and predictions.

The Minnesota Vikings started the season red-hot as one of the most surprising and impressive teams in the league. They were the last unbeaten NFC team at 5-0. Then they hit a speed bump in the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams, losing back-to-back games before claiming a win over the Colts last week. They are 6-2 heading into this Week 10 matchup.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have not had the season they’d hoped for. And now, franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence is unlikely to play in Week 10 with a shoulder injury. To add insult to injury, they are reviewing all options which could include shoulder surgery to fix the issue. So, the former New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones will get the start for the Jaguars at home.

Jordan Addison Over 39.5 Receiving Yards (-119)

The Jacksonville Jaguars pass defense is bad. They rank #31 out of 32 teams in stopping the pass, allowing an average of 264.3 yards per game through the air. The Vikings rank 12th in passing offense averaging 222.1 yards per game. Sam Darnold has shown the ability to distribute the ball well all season and should have a field day against the Jaguars.

After some rumors of Addison potentially wanting a trade, the trade deadline has come and gone and the Vikings made sure to get their young star the ball extra last week. He was targeted five times against the Colts, catching all five passes thrown his way. In three of the last five games for Addison, he’s surpassed 39.5 receiving yards and got to 36 in one of the two he came up short in. Addison also surpassed this number in 11 of his 17 games in 2023.

Minnesota Vikings -6.5 (-108)

There are a couple factors going into why I love this bet. The Vikings have proved they are a very good team this season, ripping off all those wins to start the year and beating tough teams in doing it. They played the Lions tough, only losing by two points and caught the Rams in a bad spot.

The Vikings know how to cover the spread, they are a top five team against the spread in 2024 with a 6-2 record that matches their actual record. A Brian Flores led defense going up against Mac Jones and a team that just hasn’t been able to figure it out, has me loving Minnesota this week.
