Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – World Series Game 5

Freddie Freeman – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases

If there’s a reason not to ride the Freddie Freeman train at this point, I don’t know it. He’s homered in four straight games in this World Series and the last two of the last World Series he was in. The guy clearly loves crunch time. His recent streak isn’t the only reason why I like this projection. In addition to pressure situations, he clearly likes hitting off Wednesday starter Gerrit Cole as well. He’s a career 8-for-23 (.348) against him in his career with five of those eight hits being for extra bases.

Jack Flaherty – Higher than 5.5 Strikeouts

Jack Flaherty has hit this projection in two of his last three games – with the lone exception being when the Mets lit him up during game five of the NLCS. He even fanned six Yankees en route to a game one victory in this series. I have additional confidence in this projection thanks to the fact that they’re coming off of a bullpen game. The Dodgers will want him to get a little deeper into the lineup than usual, which should give him the time he needs to grab six strikeouts.

Jazz Chisholm – Lower than 0.5 Total Bases

The numbers coming into game five don’t look good for Chisholm. The Yankees third basemen enters action on Wednesday with a .176 postseason batting average. In 13 October games, he has just two extra-base hits and has struck out a whopping 13 times. While he seems to have picked it up a bit in this series, with how bad he’s been over the past month, I like the ‘Lower than’ on this projection.
